Learn about grounding/earthing and its health benefits.
The term grounding has been thrown around a lot lately, especially with spiritual awareness being widely spread more than ever. Im sure you have questions, kinda like I did in the beginning of my journey; What does grounding really mean? and how can I really benefit from it? Keep reading and I'll break it all down.
You may heard of the term Earthing, this is another term for grounding. Grounding/Earthing refers to direct skin contact with the surface of the Earth, such as with bare feet or hands. Grounding connects us all to the earths natural healing energy, and this energy is known to promote a greater well being for the collective. This well being is being created by the natural frequencies of the earth, This natural electric charge stabilizes are body. This frequency is known as electrical Matrix, and once our body connects with this frequency it will start receiving the benefits within 20 min. But of course 20 min for the first time is great but........ the benefits come when you have made this a habit in your self care, self love, and self development routine.
According to The National Library of Medicine "Grounding appears to improve sleep, normalize the day–night cortisol rhythm, reduce pain, reduce stress, shift the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic toward parasympathetic activation, increase heart rate variability, speed wound healing, and reduce blood viscosity. A summary has been published in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health.4.
There are many studies and research to back up that if you tune into earth frequencies you can benefit from it, But there is also research to show that you receive benefits by just being in nature.
NSW Department of Planning and Environment research shows that just being in nature gives you the following benefits, plus more:
reduce migraine and severe headaches.
increase our pain threshold.
improve mood and self-esteem.
calm us down and help us deal with stress.
decrease depression, anger, anxiety, hostility and frustration.
help us concentrate, think more clearly and learn new things.
Here is our beginner breakdown on grounding:
Two (2) forms of Earthing
- INDOOR GROUNDING
When indoors you can also ground, this grounding is done a lot by yogis and reiki practitioners. And usually conducted on a mat. You can receive the benefits by walking barefoot but the frequencies are not as strong and you may never fully find peace if surrounded within a negative environment.
- OUTDOOR GROUNDING
This form would be the most natural and effective way to ground. This form includes being barefoot, outdoors on grass, soil, gravel, stone, or sand. You also get the benefits of the Sun, Like natural Vitamin D.
These are the most common ways to ground, but there our also many other ways to stay grounded and connected especially during times when outdoors is not as accessible. During winter seasons or maybe your schedule just doesn’t fit at the moment take the time to use your hands by writing or creating something special.
- Painting : is a great way to stay grounded and connected to self. expressing through art keeps your anxiety and depression down.
- Writing: keeping a journal or notebook to express your thoughts, emotions, or whatever yo need to get off your chess. This form is one of my favorites.
